Private Lessons

Private lessons are for individuals, couples, or families who want one-on-one instruction. This instruction is catered to individual wants & needs and can be taken in many different directions. Lessons take place at the studio and are generally an hour a piece (although that can be changed). Some people prefer private lessons over group classes and decide to meet once a week and others simply want to understand some of the basics a little more before showing up to a group class. Others may be working with an injury or specific goals.

I’ve been studying movement for nearly a decade - dancing in my younger years lead me to somatic practices & yoga later on. I received a scholarship to UNL for a BA in Somatic Movement & Modern Dance, where I assisted, choreographed, lead independent studies, and acted as a featured performer and choreographer, as well as studied with & received feedback from some RADICAL movers & dance companies in the USA. This training led me to Indonesia, where I lead an independent study focusing on Balinese/cultural dance & somatic cultural influence.

Since, I’ve completed at least 1,200 hours of yoga study and have spent thousands of hours teaching public yoga classes to beginners, elders, and all-levels practitioners. With this training in movement and awareness, I’ve developed an intentional way of using the physical body & movement as a gateway to the brain and nervous system to unearth old ways of being (habits & patterns that no longer serve) and to encourage new, awake ways of being. While my teaching is rooted in breath, poses, & yogic practices of awareness, it’s also creative & funky. The ancient practices of yoga are focused on way more than just the poses, and I aim to teach through the lens of a more integrated system: an understanding of the way movement impacts our brain & nervous system and how to use the body as a tool for positive mental change, self-inquiry, and increased awareness & presence.

I completed an internship with Ruth Davidson Hahn conducting movement classes for people with Parkinson’s. I now work one-on-one with people impacted by both Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. We work with simple movement to encourage brain function and regulation of nervous system for better quality lives (these sessions generally take place off-site at the client’s home or care facility).

I also love working with…

  • beginner’s who are hoping to develop a strong foundation, as well as advancing practitioner’s who want to up-level with new movement techniques and tricky poses

  • people who are bored, unengaged, or uninterested in group classes

  • those who don’t want a rigorous movement practice but still want the benefits of moving the body & working the brain

  • those who DO want a rigorous movement practice

  • people who want to learn how to develop an at-home practice

  • yoga/movement teachers who want to shake up their offerings

  • specialized cases

Guiding others in exploration of movement is one of my favorite parts of life. I teach in an intentional, explorative, and creative way that allows for learning, healing, and growing. I’d love to chat with you!

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Traditional yoga obviously has benefits that have stayed the test of time but through research and practice, thankfully we are EVOLVING!  I'm staying curious in pursuit of happiness and exploring new ways to move to create a more sustainable practice for all bodies. The intention is that our practice encourages an adventurous and curious exploration of the Mind, Body, and Breath.
